The Perfect Recipe for a Spaw Day
Your pet's next groom can be so much more! Some things to talk to your groomer about for your pet's next appointment: adding teeth brushing, shampoo and conditioner upgrades, or something fun and different like nail polishing. These add-ons can play a big difference in the finished groom and how you and your pet feel by the end of the experience. making it the perfect spa day.
Shampoo Upgrades: As a pet owner, I will always strongly recommend adding shampoo and conditioner upgrades along with teeth brushing. Let's talk about the benefits of the shampoo and conditioner upgrades first. Even though our base shampoo and conditioners do a great job getting the pet clean, the upgrades do a better job. These upgrades will leave the pet smelling clean and enjoyable longer than the traditional hypoallergenic shampoo and conditioner. The best part is that these shampoo upgrades match the seasons we are in. For example, our summer line is Berry Gentle shampoo and Plum Silky conditioner, followed by the Berry Blast dog and cat-safe cologne. This combo helps prevent potential future matting if you have a busy lifestyle and can't brush your pet as often as they should be brushed. In my experience with my Standard Poodle, the smell lasts nearly a month, pleasantly and slowly fading by the time she needs her next groom.
Dental Care: When looking at the upgrades and add-ons, you may notice teeth brushing as an option. But why should you ask for it? Here is the truth when you hear groomers say they are "looking out for you." It is true that if you don't keep a regular dental routine like brushing at home or offering dental chews, getting the add-on won't do a whole lot. But in return, when you ask me (Leah), the owner of Paws Gone Pretty, to add our Dental Care, I do more than just "go through the motions" of brushing teeth. I look for gum and teeth health. If I notice anything concerning, I bring it to your attention. Having this add-on is a bonus for puppies and kittens who are learning. Getting them used to their mouths being handled with their routine grooming teaches them how to accept and allow the vet to examine their mouths during their visits. Also, why not have your pet's breath smell fresher after a groom? Their whole body smells amazing—shouldn't their breath smell the same too? But honestly, keeping up with dental chews and brushing at home in-between grooms will help the fresh breath last longer until our next visit.
Something Fun: I absolutely really enjoy sprucing up your pet's nails with our mess-free, pet-safe nail polish pens. It will heighten your dog's finished groom. Every time I take my Standard Poodle out with painted nails, the first thing people see is just that, and they stop me to say how fun and cute her nails are. She feels their excited energy and feels how good I feel after the compliment, and she will put a little more pep in her step to get more attention to her feet.
